Out of Water: Style frames

Worked on these for the past week or so, I will post the other 3 tomorrow.
For some background on the the third picture:
The pig is the principle of the school Lucy attends. Lucy is very helpful and outgoing but seems to get herself into trouble to often.

80's Cyberpunk

I wanted to do a set of illustrations with the theme 80's Cyberpunk. This is the first of hopefully a series of illustrations.
It was quite fun to do, let me know what you think.

Out Of Water sketches

Just working on some layouts and designs of the main character, Za said she liked the round eyes so Iv been doing the future designs with round eyes. More of that later.

Entrance to Paradise

I should have refined the drawing a bit more before coloring, but it came out ok.

Trying to capture this odd world.

Adventure girl variations

I'm not sure they scream adventure girl as much as I like, but these are just a few rough sketches I picked out.

Adventure girl!

Whoops! I haven't posted in forever,  but I have been drawing.

Some sketches I did quite a bit ago, don't know if I want to add these to my portfolio.

Tennis always seemed like a fun sport, something I would like to play.

Liberty's Daughter

I read a short story recently called Liberty's Daughter. It had a really interesting setting that really got me wanting to do some concept, though these are more story broads then concepts.

Put it in Drive

Some more speed paints from the movie Drive. Each took about 20 - 45 minutes. HOORAY ORANGE!

Stories unlike any other.

I'm ready to do A storybook, the only thing is I probably wouldn't finish it. Thats probably why I just have one idea that I illustrate like these illustrations here.

Korra's finest hour

Korra did some awesome things that you would never see in any animated show. SO many thing where done right and yet only one problem made it all come crashing down. So much character development and plot was shoved into one season with no room to breath! The funniest example was the last episode where Tenzin tells Mako to give Korra some time (after he says he loves her) well I guess 2 minutes was the only time she needed because BAM everything is better again and this relationship comes to a close (which I hate BTW)

I could rant about Korra for hours, all the love and hate I have for it, but all it really comes down to is one thing. Pacing. And I know people will say "they only planed on one season" well then they should have "planed" on less content. Plenty of shows do great things with 12 episodes so its no excuse for Korra to be so convoluted.

Summer Days Ahead

It may be hot inside, but outside is even hotter! Hot days in Portland are nice, and living on near 23rd makes it even better.

NOT your fairy tale ending.

I'm always thinking of stories. I've always thought of stories. Now I can illustrate a lot of the things I think of to a satisfying degree. I like getting these ideas down as simple storybook designs, and color is key.

Hopefully I will start designing by value and not just line drawings.

Drive: Speed paint

SO many good shots. I (hopefully) will go though the whole movie doing these quick paintings.
All 4 took about 2 hours.

Shot 5 progress

Just wanted to post some progress on shot 5, I'v been slacking lately and really need to step up my game.
Im just about ready to add effects and animation, don't know if I will do the animation traditionally or try something new.

What do you think?

CitySand shots

So i'v been working on some of these shots in C4D. namely shot 5 and 6 since they will be the most work intensive. My original thought with shot 5 was to have slow motion as the worm monster emerges.

I think it got out of hand during the boards, I though about doing a sweet camera move back and forth behind the character. Although this might be cool to do its probably unnecessary and kinda breaks my artwork.
Shot 6 is a bit simpler, at first I had a cut between the character running out of the hallway and him looking over the edge but then decided that combing them might make a better shot.

Anyways, comments and crits are always welcome.

Rough Animatic CS

Here is the rough animatic to CitySand, for some reason its slower then what I was viewing it at, but its still a rough.

The next thing i'm going to work on is the 3D environment that I will use to set up the scene, camera move and the 3D projection.

Thoughts and Sketches

I am at a point where I can relax, perfect for creativity.
So I started a workout of 30 min of gesture drawings a day. (and hopefully 30 min of ACTUAL working out)

I am really exited to see where I take myself in the next couple of years. As an artist and at my job.

Sand City, Animated project

I have really wanted to do an animated short, something about 30 seconds to 1 minute long. No real story, just visuals and animation. May need someone to do animation for me when the time comes but it will be awhile.
