City Sand: Yet another update

Every once and awhile I do stuff on this 30 second animation. I did a bunch of keyframes for the characters and the dust FX. 70% of the backgrounds are at a level I want them, but I always go back to improve them.

Luther: Characters and Backgrounds

Another post about Luther. I wanted to do a ink and color of the characters as well as some backgrounds based on the show.
The style of the backgrounds where interesting and fun to do.

Luther Season 3

Finished the last episode of season 3 of Luther. If you don't know Luther stars Idris Elba who plays a DCI with the genius on par with Sherlock and an unstoppable sense of justice. But that same sense of justice seems to get the ones he holds most deer into dire situations.

I always wondered about Luther and Alice's random journeys off screen. Though the tone of the show is very serious many of the characters are played to the extreme (like many serial killers are I'm sure) much like a batman villain would be, which I think lends itself to an animated show.

City Sand 30 second short

So i'm back at it again with City Sand (or City of Sand) with this super short animation. I don't know if I will do any of the actual animation, my goal is to complete all the backgrounds and probably some keys of the character. You can check out the rough backgrounds and the animatic down below.

Galactic Homerun Work

About a month or two ago I had started doing layouts and backgrounds for my Galactic Homerun short. An assortment of thumbs, rough layouts, and finished backgrounds. I'll come back to it eventually when I make my rounds with my other projects.

Galactic Homerun: Animation

Heres the final shot with a little bit of animation. I want to do more animation but it becomes increasingly hard to be motivated to work on my independendent stuff.

That aside, I would really like to do a whole animated short in this style. Anyone interested?

Brandy by the Sea: Final

So my first project is finished and I quite like the result!

Its not animated on twos (more like just keys), I realize it wasn't going to get this finished unless I moved forward with what I had. But that's not bad, I will start a new project this week with what I learned. Part of this one month restriction is so I can keep focused and see my idea through to a polished point. Another part is to keep pushing myself and sticking with ideas because of time restriction. There are a lot of thing I would go back and work on with Brandy, but now I have to move on, taking the knowledge I learned with this project into the next project.

Despite the animation being clunky and the character model getting wonky at times, I am vary happy with the way it turned out.

In the mean time, have a listen.

Korra's finest hour

Korra did some awesome things that you would never see in any animated show. SO many thing where done right and yet only one problem made it all come crashing down. So much character development and plot was shoved into one season with no room to breath! The funniest example was the last episode where Tenzin tells Mako to give Korra some time (after he says he loves her) well I guess 2 minutes was the only time she needed because BAM everything is better again and this relationship comes to a close (which I hate BTW)

I could rant about Korra for hours, all the love and hate I have for it, but all it really comes down to is one thing. Pacing. And I know people will say "they only planed on one season" well then they should have "planed" on less content. Plenty of shows do great things with 12 episodes so its no excuse for Korra to be so convoluted.
