The journey of Work and Skill.

Its been just over a month since I'v graduated from Ai and in that time I have relaxed, panicked, scrabbled for work and acquired a full time job. Something not a lot a people can say they have done in just under a month. But the one thing that keeps going through my head is "Whats next" what is the next step in my journey.

I have come quite far in the 4 years I have spent at Ai, the growth is like Black and White. That being said I still have much farther to go, to improve my art skills, to bolster my professional status and to understand the business I want to be in.

Last month I applied for a Nickelodeon Internship without much understanding of the competition. They picked the 13 semi-finalist, needless to say I wasn't one of them. But they posted the name and MAN do these people ever deserve to be picked.

Amanda Winterstein
Keiko Murayama
Erin Schleupner
Rachel Hunt
Samantha Kallis
Trevor Jones
William Niu
Danielle Powers
Justin Rodrigues
Kari Kilpela
Ryan Matias
Tiffany Ford
Erin Kavanagh
Isuri Merenchi Hewage

Just put the name into Google, the fist blog you find is usually theirs. Some of them have already had internships at Disney, about half of them attend Cal Arts as well. But the Skill they are working at is scary. Its funny to think that I can now be called a "Pro" comparing myself to these people, but as an artist I am still a student and that may never change. I hope to continue learning and refine my skills until the day I die, I will surpass everyone on this list no matter what.

  1. On the plus side, you can be somewhat confident that the work they post professionally is among the best they have ever done. Not sure about you, but having some sort of guarantee that there isn't something bigger and badder waiting in the shadows is comforting.
